FAQ

Questions, answered.

How can I know this product will last?

Because the bond is chemical, not physical. The silane sealant forms covalent Si–O–Si bonds with your shingles — it doesn't sit on top like paint, so it doesn't peel, flake or wash away. Water beads off at contact angles above 110°, and embedded titanium and zinc oxide nanoparticles reflect about 98% of UV. We also return for re-inspections every 1–2 years to verify the coating is performing.

Will you repair the roof before application?

Always. Every job starts with a full roof walk where we replace missing, broken or loose shingles and check flashing, valleys and penetrations. Nano-sealant is a permanent bond — it locks in whatever it covers — so we make sure the roof underneath is structurally sound before a drop of sealant goes on.

What about when I do need a full replacement?

Then we tell you, plainly — and we handle it. Tech Barrier is a fully operational roofing contractor: complete tear-offs, decking replacement, ice & water shield, synthetic underlayment, and GAF, Owens Corning or CertainTeed architectural shingles, backed by manufacturer warranties and our written workmanship warranty.

Does this product change the appearance of my roof?

The sealant dries clear within about 24 hours. Most roofs actually look better afterward, because the process starts with a soft wash that removes the black algae streaks, moss and lichen — so you get a clean roof with its original shingle color, protected.

Do I need to clean my roof beforehand?

No — cleaning is part of our process. We soft-wash the roof with a low-pressure biocidal cleaner. Important: we never pressure wash, because high pressure strips the protective granules off your shingles and shortens roof life.

Why is this a good investment?

A full replacement in our area typically runs $25k or more. The nano-tech treatment costs roughly 75% less and adds up to 10 years of life to a structurally sound roof — giving you years to plan and budget for the eventual replacement on your terms instead of under pressure. It also lowers attic heat (up to 30°F cooler shingle surface), which trims summer cooling bills.
